The West Zone Board has recently started experimenting with some different types of community programming. The first new program pilot we launched was a Learn to Skateboard program for kids ages four through eighteen. Run in collaboration with our our friends from the Regina Skateboarding Coalition, we ran eight classes with ten students each, across various age ranges. The goal of this program was to shine some light on this popular sport while giving parents or youth the resources to build on the initial confidence and techniques for learning skateboarding.
This program was an overwhelming success with the majority of our classes being filled within days of being made available for registration. With the exciting news that the Regina Skateboarding Coalition will get more permanent space made available at the Canada Centre we will see what other opportunities exist for the West Zone Board to collaborate with the Regina Skateboarding Coalition for future community programs.
Check out their Facebook page for more information, resources, and learning opportunities around skateboarding in Regina.
